Jan Dibbets started with photography to capture the boundaries between earth and sky. The horizon line is an omnipresent motif in his works from the 1960s and 1970s. The dislocation of the horizon line in the series of videos Horizon – Sea rearranges the relationship between sky and sea in the movement of the camera. Between Land Art and conceptual art, he delivers a contemplative and poetic work that shifts from the reality of the subject to a formal and cyclical abstraction.

Jan Dibbets is one of the Dutch pioneers of conceptual art in the 1960s. His formal research questions the perceptions of the photographic and video image. He deconstructs these two media in their initial function and in the restitution of the recording they are supposed to reproduce. The line, the square, the circle and the color are the invariables for the one who says « without being against philosophy, rather than reading, I often content myself with looking out the window ».

Le trait de rive

2022

Exhibition [from the 26.11.2022 to the 15.02.2023]

I have seen the shoreline, the one that runs alongside the air and the water. It realizes the invisible. In permanent and unceasing ebullition, the movement it delimits is infinite. You can only hear it vibrate all around the sea. If the sound moves away, it is because the water is made of oil, because the sky has flattened it by imposing silence, the shore has been born, it has joined the horizon. The sea and the sky only brush against each other, the salt then comes to the surface and forms a trail of crystals.

Performance cycle IN BIG PUMPS!

This year, on the occasion of the 5th edition of the HackatonTextileWeek, the artists and designers who are members of this co-creative alliance are linking their talents and know-how on the festive theme of weddings. A multi-faceted programme that explores the notion of assembly and seeks to invent its rituals and symbols.

A unique programme in a former chapel that is just as unique!
