Performancia – OVNi La Biennale 2026
This forthcoming edition of OVNi summons you to further the exploration of novel modes of writing, to (re)engage with the panoramic horizons of both historical and contemporary creation. The curated programme commits us to profound
exchanges and dialogues, to the forging of connections between disparate languages and practices. OVNi calls upon you to cross the threshold into the very heart of the artworks, and into venues whose customs and habits may lie beyond your usual acquaintance. The very raison d’être of the Biennale is to unlock the potential for sheer marvel, unadulterated pleasure, and the astonishing vitality of the moving image

Every event has its climax, and the Hotel Weekend is the Biennale’s. For three days, OVNi welcomes visitors to the intimate rooms of five hotels located in Nice’s Golden Triangle and presents its two prizes: OVNi Cosmopolis and OVNi Sud Emergences

CALL FOR COSMOPOLIS PROJECT
|
|
This initiative was first conceived in 2021, operating under the patronage of FICEP (the Forum of Foreign Cultural Institutes in Paris, a body uniting 55 cultural centers) and hosted within a historic Hotel in Nice’s exclusive ‘Golden Triangle’—a setting shared with the OVNi Emergences – Grand Sud Project. The format is bold, bringing together 10 immersive installations by international artists, exhibited with the invaluable support of various Cultural Foundations and Centers. Following the ‘Hotel Weekend,’ the Cosmopolis Prize is awarded to a single laureate chosen by a Jury composed of leading transnational professionals.
This endeavour is a clear homage to Nice’s deep-rooted cosmopolitan heritage and honours the legacy of Cosmopolis, the international, multilingual monthly review established in 1896. It mirrors the founding spirit of the OVNi festival: generous, eclectic, and fostering significant opportunities for discovery and meaningful exchange. Its success is equally driven by the quality of dialogue between the artistic community, professionals, and an audience receptive to surprise.
The Cosmopolis Prize – a distinguished accolade in the realm of visual art, provides concrete financial assistance to the Laureate, enabling the development or realisation of a new artistic creation. The project benefits from the committed involvement of the CHE (Centre de Haute Energie), a key patron of the Biennale.

SOUTH EMERGING AWARDS
|
|
Designed to stimulate emerging regional talent, and for the sixth time in its history, the OVNi festival is launching its call for projects aimed at emerging artists from the Greater South Region (South, Monaco, and Occitanie). Created to support and showcase new forms of video and digital art, the Prize returns with the ambition of highlighting the emerging artistic scene and supporting it within a unique professional framework.
The selected artists will be invited to create an immersive site-specific installation in one of the ten rooms of the hotel dedicated to the Prize, during the peak of the Biennale between November 26 and 29.
The jury of professionals will select the winner for a one-month residency with a grant to support writing or production, with the assistance of the Friends of OVNi Circle and mentorship from OVNi. We encourage you to widely share this call for projects with your partners, networks, schools, artists, cultural organizations, and anyone who may be interested.

OVNi entrusted the design of the Biennale’s graphic identity to the duo François Havegeer and Sacha Léopold of Studio Syndicat. Their philosophy is one that skillfully interweaves the act of creation with the retrospective wit and spirit central to OVNi. Studio Syndicat is renowned for its ability to deconstruct the mechanics of the image, giving tangible form to the flows, rhythms, and vibrations that underpin video art. Their approach ensures a radical signature that upholds the sense of strangeness, poetry, and experimentation central to OVNi. By choosing designers who also operate as curators and publishers ( Empire), Faire magazine), the Festival provides fluid guidance to the audience through an abundant and multifaceted programme.
