In conjunction with the Oceans Summit, and with the support of the Windsor Hotel, OVNi presents a performance by Peter Fend, as part of his exhibition Physiocratics States, Champions of the Seas.

The American artist creates site-specific scenarios that seek to engage with and improve the living world, social relations, and broader biopolitical frameworks.

His work draws on the languages of both art and architecture to develop practical responses to the economic and ecological crises shaping contemporary society.

He has also developed a performative methodology that connects global issues with the vernacular gestures of everyday life.

Peter Fend presents himself as an activist, expert, craftsman, conceptual artist, realist, dreamer, and mad scientist—roles that reflect the breadth of his diverse projects, each tinged with a touch of the absurd.

To communicate his artistic strategy, he produces artifacts—maps, flags, models, and even earth shaped into rough topographic silhouettes—to protest the diversion of aquifers, dam construction, river rerouting, and polluted lands, from Greenland to the Gobi Desert. Each of his works is accompanied by a body of text that feeds itself with ceaseless energy under any circumstance.

Together, they create an ambivalent environment: the aesthetic experience is both abstract and spectacular, incorporating a complex spectrum of verified and verifiable scientific information.

Peter Fend’s ambition is to inject artistic creativity into scientific methodology, and vice versa. His aim is to foster a dialogue between two fields that too often fail to listen closely to one another, resulting in surprising breakdowns in communication.

The artist’s verbal interventions, expressed in a powerful multilingual uproar, shape his conceptual universe (April 4–6).

This exhibition examines the artistic rhetoric and practice of  Peter Fend, who tirelessly interprets contemporary economic and geopolitical developments, as well as the power dynamics of governments within their tightly intertwined relationships.
