In This Vessel We Shall Be Kept

Vidéo / Performance, 2016

A piece at the crossroads of lyrical singing and contemporary dance, the plot takes place in the bowels of the Opéra Garnier. Like sirens, the choir invites spectators to admire the sculptural bodies and postures of the dancers of the Opéra Garnier corps de ballet.

For the MANCA festival, the artist proposes to discover for the first time, an immersive sound installation of these contemporary lyrical siren songs, at the Fausto Romitelli studio of the CIRM. A new visual version of this work will be on display at the Hôtel Windsor, where we will be captivated by the racy elegance, sensuality and dark air of the dancers of the Opéra Garnier.

A project presented for the first time for the MANCA and OVNi 2016 festival.

On June 18, 2016, Ayoung Kim, artist in residence at the Pavillon Neuflize – Palais de Tokyo, and Sébastien Bertaud, choreographer at the Opéra Garnier, performed their piece In this Vessel We Shall Be Kept, with the Palais de Ballet, accompanied opera singers, as part of the exhibition La Rumor des Naufrages.
