From the opening of OVNi Folies! at the Pôle de cultures contemporaines – le 109, OVNi sets the tone in terms of its desire to offer a showcase and a voice for Ukrainian creation with the guest artist of honor Oksana Chepelyk and « The Garden of Divine Songs » after Hryhorii Skovoroda, an original work that immerses us in an immersive spatial structure offering an interrogative experience of space and time. Part of the exhibition « Le monde est tout ce qui est » it is mixed with critical reflections on the relationship of the being to the Earth. The video artist will also meet the OVNi festival-goers with an installation as well as an original video OCEAN projected in the auditorium of the Matisse Museum from November 19th at 3:30 pm. For the festival and its partners, it is a question of allowing a dialogue between the works of the museum and a contemporary discourse carried by a medium capturing the moment digitally.

The Forum of Urbanism and Architecture, a faithful partner of the festival, also proposes to highlight the urban landscape of this topical capital, Kiev. Hypnotized by the emptiness of a scrolling landscape and the plenitude of an architecture that reveals itself during a journey rocked by the variations of time and wandering, Oleksiy Radynski, catches the viewer on the fly to join this adventure. « Circulation », filmed over three years, offers a moving perspective on current events.

Echoing the abstraction of the Ukrainian video artists of the OVNi in the city program, the Marc Chagall National Museum will broadcast in its auditorium the second part of Olivier Roller’s series Portraits of Ukrainian refugees shot in 2022, presented from November 25. The artist presents a selection of 10 portraits, an exposure sharing the experience of a fragment of life cradled by the warlike rhythm of uncertainty and hope. Among the friends of OVNi at the Hotel, the first part of this series will also be represented by the Marc Chagall National Museum and hosted at the WindsoR Hotel during the OVNi at the Hotel weekend from December 2 to 4.

During this wandering in the partner hotels of the festival and at the bend of a street, the hotel Villa Victoria will open its doors to the Ukrainian curator Oleksandra Khalepa in residence at the Villa Arson for  « Flowers of War » a proposal composed with 5 videos of artists from this country.

In fine, the WindsoR hotel in the framework of the Cosmopolis Project, welcomes the video artist Mykhaylo Barabash supported by the Cultural and Information Center of the Ukrainian Embassy under the aegis of FICEP. As in its last 8 editions, OVNi associates a room with an artist so that the latter can appropriate a space for expression. Mykhaylo Barabash studies the body through the digital representation of « Saint Sebastian », the limit of the being in front of the societal violence, mirror of its own interests and desire. Isagus Toche, threads this pain through an installation transporting the spectator in a process, the time of four seasons, allying the pain of the mourning in love to the resurrection inextricably linked to this last one with the video « The Chernobyl Bride ».

OVNi embodies a constellation of ideas, discussions and encounters whose purpose lies, regardless of time and space, like a small grain of madness, in the immediacy of observation and listening.

Come and share with us, let the madness take over, just become OVNi!
